Positive Thinking - A Short Story

A village is devastated by a tsunami. Almost the entire men/women folks their homes etc., are destroyed. A group of people - mostly undeserving - somehow survive & take shelter in a dilapidated structure clinging to their lives. A lone man in this group- an extremely pious man & a very good samaritan, is amongst this crowd. The space in the shelter being limited, the group wants to get rid of this good man, gangs up referring to his bad influence etc., & then pushes this fellow away without an iota of mercy.

What happens next? There are two versions both based on the "think positive" mindset:  The first:

The structure held because of the good deeds of this nice young fellow. The moment he was pushed out, the structure collapses. All of them perish. The chucked out fellow is saved by a rush of a wave which takes him to a place of safety. God's ways & pure Grace. He finds himself amongst other poor affected guys & dedicates his entire life helping others with a renewed vigor. He remains positive, and never once does he nurture any negative feeling towards the group which kicked him out. In fact his positive thinking makes him believe that his being thrown out was the best thing that he could ever imagine, happening to him.

But for all his sterling character, this man is never known beyond his immediate neighborhood. He dies unsung,by & large unknown. The only silver lining as if to meekly satisfy the discomforts of the "faithful", recognition does indeed come alas after his death as words about him had slowly spread after all.

The other version of the same "Think Positive" mindset.:

The discarded man struggles and after one of the toughest ordeals of his life lands up somewhere, completely shaken, with limbs broken and ekes out a living unsung, unknown, & Gods perfectly - well apparently- not unduly concerned. But this man being good however is ever without a trace of bitterness & rancor, and blames only his own karmas for his plight & trusting in Him to deliver. Is he happy however? No one knows really.

The group which hangs on to the shelter gets rescued by a team of Govt officials. They become overnight heroes with tales about  their survival spirits, their will to succeed against all odds etc, being talked about incessantly with the  Readers Digest carrying a story on their heroic escape with the title "Thinking Positive". Their story goes viral in social media, then in Electronic one, & one day the Govt awards them for their courage with cash etc to re-build their wonderful lives. They live "happily ever after", in that perfect comfort that throwing that good man out was perhaps the best Grace of that great God.

God bless us all........

Love
