It has been some time since I last blogged. Our great PM, Namo has gifted Bhagwad Gita to three heads of States; China, Japan & the USA. So it is Gita which occupies my thoughts now, and here I am.
Gita starts with King Dritharashtra asking Sanjay about what happened in the battlefield of Kurukshetra, where his & Pandu's sons are pitched in a battle for the kingdom. Gita ends with that final verse saying that Victory is to be found where there is that "beyond all yogas" - Yogeshwar Krishna, and the king of Archers Arjun .
Similar to Satyameva Jayathe? My maverick expansion is "the Ultimate Brahmn is beyond both empirical & realized Truth". Sounds abstruse? Let me explain.
I have an interpretation of a subject, another one has a different one which say is exactly opposite. I am quite agitated, nay disturbed/angry as to how the other is unable to grasp mine which is obviously & easily more meaningful. But slowly wisdom dawns; I am being naive, as both the views are manifestations of that "brahmn" which incidentally transcends every such interpretation. ..... Yatha vaacho nivarthanthe appraapya manasa saha......
I am digressing, so let me get back to the original theme. The Pandavas, the kauravas, the Kurukshetra battle field are all metaphors. The real battle is in our own minds between good & evil. Obviously "Good" - triumphs & ultimately prevails as that's where the Lord resides.
But how does one go there? This is a few verses before this Final one.
The Lord says "Rid yourself of all Duties, Free will, Ego, surrender & take refuge in Me, I will deliver you of all sins, take you abode & merge ". And what are the "sins? ; believing illusions as real & so truth.
The Universal Soul, "The non-dual ONE - Brahmn" ostensibly decides to become many, we are told. Why do I say "ostensibly" ? Because, I believe that the very mention of this term "Creation" gives rise to the possible assumption, that there is a beginning..... Creation is also an illusion; Brahmn prevails all along all the time, without a beginning or an ending.
Out of illusion we get many -- "the individual souls" just like the "characters in our dreams" . The moment this happens the individual soul inherits a phenomenal "fear" not knowing where it came from,& where it has to go, etc. From this primary emotion, every conceivable emotions take root. And it's stuck. To get out we need that Universal souls intervention. IT, therefore takes avatars as Rama Krishna, and countless others. Incidentally the word "Avatar" means a coming down from Grandeur, from an exalted position to a lower level etc. The infinite "IT" the formless ONE, takes a finite Saguna form for us to fathom that "IT".
So when that Saguna form says "I was in yoga, to deliver the Gita Upadesa to Arjun" it is possibly to tell us that "IT" is beyond the reach of "mind & words". And what does the Avatar Lord Krishna tell Arjun ? "Maa Shucha" meaning "Do Not Fear" I will take you "THERE" as even this avatar is an illusion BTW.
If this is apparently so clear, why am I then in unease? It's simply because that for my ridding myself of all ego, free will, duties, & to surrender without a trace of fear, I need an Avatar to shower Grace & tell me, as it will be impossible otherwise.
Arre Krishna are you hearing me?
Love to all & May Godbless
