Reflections : Discrimination

"God created all men equal" is an oft heard cliche. While I am only  uncomfortable with many of these cliches, but when I find that I can actually pick holes on them. I feel suddenly elated & begin relishing the opportunity to critique them.

Being an aam aadmi, there are not many who read my blog, & still lesser number empathize with it let alone agree with my outpourings. I have therefore to preface all my observations with "methinks" "I feel" kind of caveats, even if they are profound.....!!! So here I am with another set of "to my mind" kind of prefaced skepticism about the "cliche".

It appears to me that the word "discrimination" is synonymous with "Creation". Indeed without the former the latter cannot happen/ sustain. Let me explain; A baby is created by Him; it is either healthy or sick, white or black, crying or smiling etc etc. So the discrimination starts right then.

The child goes to school. There are 1000 applicants, but 100 seats. Assuming it is lucky to be in that 100, it then undergoes tests after tests after tests to determine who is first or second or last continuing till death or realization dawns whichever is earlier!!. An endless saga of Discrimination.......

Take out discrimination & "nothingness" results which is beyond comprehension of both mind & words. Discerning that such an unique stage exists & going beyond, & perhaps possibly witness this "nothingness" is the ultimate so called "all equal ONE or the Brahmn" stage. Ironically  this Brahmn has every polarized sentiment/ state both conceivable & beyond, innate in IT as its attributes. It is nothingness as well as a-nothingness, it is knowledge but is a-knowledge, it is one but yet many, limited but yet  limitless etc.etc. all of which manifest in creation &where discrimination is a "given".

"All are created equal" kind of cliche is therefore very clearly an oxymoron. Polarization/ discrimination being the sine-qua-non of creation, however makes it difficult to charge Him with any bias during creation, which incidentally is a beginning-less/endless eternal process.

These to my mind have implications for my "prameswara preethi & Rama smarana eva' etc., kind of samkalpams. This insight however is reserved for my next piece.....

                                                                      To be contd.......

Love
