Path to Liberation
Sutram
–
.
Sometime
back, I had blogged a pair of “sutras” (cogitative aphorisms) out of an impulse
and which dwelt on the cause of our births, the goals, and the means that could
be adopted to get there. The first traced the janma to “prarabdam” (literally
the beginning, but more deeply a beginning of a chain of events based on a
paradigm of “cause and effect”.)
The
gist of these were, that life’s mission would be to attain ripened wisdom
(“paripakkuam”) which will come thru only with guru krupa and prayers to Lord.
The
third and the fourth ones, -the drafts of which were mailed but not blogged-
were sent without a reference to these. On a re-visit I find that there is some
continuity. The third goes beyond paripakkuam and talks about the journey
towards that final beatitude, starting from humility, and eliminating all
negative sentiments in the process. The fourth dwells on that “liberated” stage
tracing the cycle of creation, protection and re-union. It is a bit of a
surprise to me to realize that they are not totally unrelated.
I
decided therefore that I will blog these though one at a time. And while doing
this I would prefer -unlike in the first two- some minimal amount of
translations so as to (a) more precisely understand some of the words and
context (b) keep intact the beauty (!!) of
the original Samskrit text and (c) not disturb the characteristic brevity of
such sutras. Here I go with the third list titled “path to Liberation”.
