Though I am to a large extent irrationally quick at taking umbrage, at perceived, indifferences/ lack of patience in others, for hearing my view, I am equally aghast, when I get responses, which provide evidences, as to how incorrigibly wrong I was. And equally and (probably) irrationally, sounding a bit like a sophist, I also tend to rush in with my offer of unconditional apologies immediately. I believe Alexander the great had one instrution to his soldiers; not to open any scroll for 15 days, and if the matter is not resolved by itself by then, it was worth opening. Taking no decision is also a "decision", and it's a wonderful way to keep oneself free of tension. Perhaps the blog members have realised the profound wisdom of this!!!!!!!!!
Going by the responses of Arun and Sekhar, the latter saying "sorry" for not being able to visit the site in the last one week, due to indisposition, and simultaneously suggesting one simple way to codify the site etc, and without much ado, my expressed angst seems misplaced. So it's my part to say sorry folks, but hope, you would continue to indulge this old man who will not promise not to once again go back and take umbrage and feel sorry almost simultaneously. And this will be dismissed as one of my "idiosynchrosies".
Coming to the suggestions; I need some "gyan" about this "tagging". And I would request Naresh, --now that his "hacking" , and his admin powers taken away kind of worries set at rest-take this a bit further to get the entire 110 odd postings properly codified and tagged. I may be wrong, but I do think that the tagging done is not fully complete. And of course his own ways of improving on this should be welcome.
In any group discussion, every member desires, that he is heard. But in a "written" mode such as our blog, why is it that this human tendency, is not clearly manifest? If this tendency were to be seen, then the responses would far outnumber the original posting. The large number of the latter in proportion to the former, would indicate a kind of a series of lectures, by a few, in turn, and audience either too awestruck, or bored stiff to respond spiritedly and in large numbers. This is notwithstanding the arguments about the rigours of their temporal responsibilities, and need for entertaintment etc.
Some suggestions as to widening the subjects, are indeed the requirement, if, (to borrow Ambu's implied words) all of us the "not so endowed with knowledge" crowd have to come on board. After the latest addition to "subrahmanyam" clan, we soon will have the "narasimha" clan expansion, and an end to kalyanis enduring discomfort. These then, would, more likely, bring forth a pleasant change in mood of rejoicing all over, and a set of fresh ideas to keep this venture informative, spiritually uplifting, and defenitely also entertaining , so as to sustain and keep it vibrantly alive. But there really is no bar for any suggestions in the interim!!
Before I conclude, please do respond especially if there is a dischord.
Love
Vichu
ALV sir,
ReplyDeleteIt appears that your displeasure with Deming style of quality appraisal continues.
For the record, the number of coments are more than the number of blogs so you cannot complain.
When last compiled your rank was ONE(out of twelve listed contributors) in the 107 votes(blogs)counted during round 1 with 68 votes (blogs) to your credit!
Your rank in the efficiency chart is 9 with an efficiency of 1.1 and at that rank you have had more than one comment per blog.
Swami, the greats in our family have always kept quiet. Since we have disowned greatness, why should we not freak out. After all the curvature of a dog's tail is a mark of its genetic legacy.
Let me figure out an easy way to do this tagging thing and post back. The existing tags apart from the ones I created seem to have been created automatically. I will post some clear instructions on what to do shortly.

ReplyDeleteHere is a link on labeling blog posts (same as what I called tagging) so that they can be categorized easily.

There is a section on "Labels". Click on the Getting started link to get clear instructions on how to do it. I cleaned up the existing labels a bit and tried a first short at categorizing what we have. I leave it to the prime movers to clean it up further.
