Astrology - Sr No 3

In my experience of repeated study into the few horoscopes that I have access to, I have on many occasions been bewildered at the mismatch between the texts and the reality facing me in the form of living proof, of the person whose chart is under scrutiny.

As a skeptic, one can immediately pooh-pooh the theory wholesomely, but as a faithful, it (a) humbles me to realize how little I know (b) makes me ponder seriously as to whether it’s His will which prevents me from grasping the facts, or it is His same will which has the capacity to overturn whatever is astrologically predictable from known texts, thus making the surprise element out of place, and (c) only when He wills, I will understand (Period.)

It is impossible for any one (at least me) to wholeheartedly belong to either category, as this would make my attempts to learn (jignyaasaa?) more frustrating all the time. So at times when I am not so bewildered, I try and discern some give-away patterns. The previous piece on the adjacent boxes being filled, is one such insight, and though not great, keeps one alert to identify a specimen who has His benign dispensation. Lest I forget, another member of our family circle Malini ( our Amma’s cousin Shanta’s daughter in the US) has her 2nd to fifth box occupied.

The next piece of info which is fascinating to me is the 4 purushaarthams being allotted to different houses as I had mentioned in my last piece. A quick look into what they actually (“Probably” would be a better word, as it is my surmise, but let that pass), represent, in the context of astrological predictions.

Dharma – is a righteous duty. Artha – is temporal riches, Kama – is passion, and finally Moksha – is liberation.

In our scheme of things the lagna, and its lord – are given huge importance. If therefore a person has his lagna house and the lord of such house matching with any of the above characteristic, it is possible to guess to a certain degree, about what the person’s outlook towards life in general could possibly be.

If a person has lagna, its lord, and also other planets in predominantly Dharma houses, will most likely be a stickler for what-is-right kind of frame of mind, and can be quite an unsuccessful player in business. Similarly a fellow similarly having the combination predominantly in artha houses, is likely to be successful in his material life.

During the running dasa of a planet which is in a “ artha” house, the subject would earn material riches even when the planet otherwise is weak. The two major planets which have a bearing on riches are Jupiter (Guru) and Venus (Sukra). The artha houses are Taurus, Virgo, and Capricorn. Jupiter or Venus in these houses and in their dasa give “lucre”, my dear. This is my theory and a finding which however needs further corroboration. Jupiter is weakest in Capricorn, and Venus is weakest in Virgo are points to be noted.

The reverse will be true, say if planets are all in Moksha houses, money/temporal happiness become difficult to come by.

Only Artha houses and Kama houses are beneficial, while Dharma/Moksha houses generally tend to impede great material sukham. Before I take up a few known illustrations, another important point is to know that since Rahu and Ketu are exactly 180 degrees apart; one can reckon only 8 planets and see their respective placing.

Yours truly, has 6 planets in “moksha” houses, and 2 in Dharma houses, none in Artha. Guru the most beneficial in religious affairs, aspects from a moksha house all the other planets (4 in number) in other moksha houses. There is another terminology for these Moksha houses, namely watery/fruitful signs. Our Lokanatha thatha-my father- saw this aspect, and derived a different meaning; that I am prone to water borne accidents. My take? I can dream of material benefits, but they will be extremely difficult to come by, almost as if there is a message that I have no other choice but to transcend from losing my cool over denial of material sukham. Will I be able to grin and get there? That is a question very difficult to answer. (Lagna is in a Kama house, it’s lord is in moksha. I have to develop a passion for detachment, as ingredients are available, I guess).

Take Jinji. Lagna in Kama, and its lord in Dharma. Rest in Moksha. So he will not only do religious penance, he will justify every great dream ending in disasters. Gulpa and Ambu fare better; the former has one in Artha, the other in Kama, and 3 each in Dharma and Moksha houses. Ambu has 3 in kama and one in Artha house, 2 in Dharma and 2 in Moksha. Yet ask him; he will complain about 17000 (sathra hazaar lafdas). Which proves my earlier point, namely there is a great mismatch.

There are therefore two things which trouble me constantly. One, this mismatch almost always pertains to material comforts, and without any corresponding visible spiritual experience, and second all the 4 brothers have the most benific of planets namely Guru & Sukra in Moksha/Dharma houses, making easy money eluding us constantly, without again any perceptible experience of the spiritual progress .

Jignyaasaa continues. But the regret is that, this can or perhaps already "is" turning out to be a huge “bore” for every one else except 3 of us brothers save perhaps Ambu,

My unconditional apologies to all.
