Good Friday

Being a Holy day for christians all over the globe, I thought, I would pen a few lines based on what I have gathered which is connected with this day.

The term good friday believe is derived /corrupted from the original God's Friday, and is being refered to as this even today in most of the continent, I hear. The normal greeting "good bye" is traced to original "god be with ye" . For an understanding of why it is called good, when this should have been the saddest day for all the Christians, it's said that " In the face of sin, our goodness avails nothing. Only one is good enough to save us, and He did so, is cause for celebration".

St Paul is attributed with this quote " Godly sorrow brings repentance that leads to salvation and leaves no regret."

Jesus' last 7 words/sentences were

1. Father, forgive them for they know not what they do

2. Today shalt thou be with me in paradise

3. Woman, behold thy Son.

4. My God, My God, why hast thou forsaken me?

5. I thirst

6. It's finished.

7. Father into Thy hands I commend my spirit.

It's said that there were devastating tremors when He died, and another tremor when He rose.

Just a few of my own maverickest of maverick thoughts, to end this piece. One gets the word Good by adding a "O" ( shoonya) to the word God. Thus when one realises ( meaning of shoonya) and merges with God, it's just pure/ever present "GOOD". The good byes, the good nights everything is a wish for one to realise and merge, and reach the ultimate "good".

Passes muster folks?

Love

Vichu

  1. Good reading!

After Anand commented once by writing, "Eloi, Eloi, Lema Sabactini - My God My God, Why hast thou forsaken me", I wondered what the seven sentences were uttered by christ whilst He was on the Cross.

    Thanks for listing them out.
