Glimses from Gita

Hi Folks
Before I go to the second chapter of Gita, I discerned a starnge message, when I read the last verse of the Bhagawad Gita, and tried to connect it with the first. The import was satisfyng and comforting. I thought I will share this in the interim.

The epic poem of Gita starts with the king dritharashtra asking Sanjay about the happenings of the Kurukshetra war thus

Dharma kshetre Kurukshetre samaveta yuyuytsuvaaha

Mamakaha pandavascha eva, kimakurvartha sanjaya.

The two desirous of war, namely my sons and the pandavas , assembled in Kurukshetra , what did they do?

The song ends with Sanjay musing

Yatra yogeswara Krishno, yatra partho dhanurdharaha

Tatra sri vijayo bhoothir dhruva neethir mathir mathir mama.

Translated, Sanjay says that “my intellect tells me that where there is the yogeswar Krishna and where there is the archer Arjun, there is victory, brightness/fame / steadfast law, conduct, and justice”.

(Tidbit: The lord of the yogis is yogeeswar. The word used is yogeswar which denotes one in whom all the 3 yogas, (karma, gyana, bhakthi ) merge in their entirety, in absolution, namely Krishna the paramathma swarupa)

Starting from the second verse till the 799 is the main Gita Upadesa. In a way, the first and the last just about summarize the essence. Put in another way, the king’s query is about the result of the individual soul’s journey towards that final absolution with the ultimate universal soul. It’s nothing short of war between two factions namely the right vs wrong.

The answer is simple. Krishna the ultimate destination, is where the Right is, and it is where victory, fame justice pervades. The result therefore is inevitable; the wrong just vanishes and merges into the absolute in total liberation.

Rest is all detail, about the journey.

Are you with me folks?
