Ponderable Quotes

"When we try to bring about change in our societies,we are treated first with indifference, then with ridicule, then with abuse, and then with oppression. And finally, the greatest challenge is thrown at us: We are treated with respect. This is the most dangerous stage.
- A.R. Ariyaratne*
*Speech made at InternationalCommunity Leadership Summit,Winrock, Arkansas,March 1983.This quote paraphrasesand expands upon a well-known statement made by Mahatama Gandhi in his book Satyagraha in South Africa
All of the above is reproduced from the book "The Fifth Discipline Fieldbook" by Peter Senge et.al

The other ponderable quote for this edition of the blog is -
"What has been will be again, What has been done will be done again,
There is nothing new under the sun"
- Ecclesiastes

Wishing everyone a very happy new year !!

  1. Hi Naresh,

Nice to see ur sustained interest and postings of readable/mullable/enjoyable pieces. your second quote reminds me of a piece from Adhyathma Ramayana which goes like this

Rama is asked to go to forests, Seetha wants to accompany him, but Rama is not in a mood to say "yes". Finally Seetha tells him "My Lord, I have heard many a story of Ramayana from elders, and I am yet to hear one, where Rama, had gone to the forests leaving seetha behind!!".

With a Rama repeating himself every kalpa, is there any doubt about the profound nature of your quote.

    Love

    Vichu
