Where there is a way there is a will - Shaw's quote ( Vichiism?)
Some derived vichiisms for the week.
1.Where there is way, whether one can/will follow it, is His Will.
2. Where there is a will, Gods find a cross road, for one to confront with .
3. You may outsource all your will to Him in saranagathy, the possibilities are that He will just say "thank you" and leave you clueless.
4. Both "will" and "way" are nothing but His "will".
5. When one finds a way, the devout's (the bakhtha kotis) overwhelming love's ability to logically connect it with "His Will" is as uncomfortable to hear, as the non-believers delusionary boast that it was his/her, will, all along.
6. Where there is a will, there is a lawyer and a litigation. ( this one is from Ravi my co br in law.)

Vichu athan,
ReplyDeleteMy answer to your query regarding the "Where" is given by yourself in the point six of this blog.
Bhasyam -
My reading of the last vichiism begins with "When there is a will there is (always) a...."
Simple,straight-forward looking statement:-)
The "Where" is both out of place (as demonstrated by my argument of replacing it by the word "when" and not adding the "always" within brackets)and paradoxically,is, in place too, much like the question "Where is the questioner?"
How?
By being the first word in the sentence, "Where" establishes a place for itself and by rules of grammar capitalises itself!! This explains why it is in place.
To come to my statement "where is the questioner?" - Well, it is a simple translation of the hindi conversational question, "(Is masle mein)Janab, Aap Kahan Hain?" , Kyunki mere hisab se Aap to kahin aur hain (yegongayo poiteenga)!!!

Naresh
I was reading this to amma and appa and we all concur that there is so much will all around that there is no way except going for pill.
ReplyDeleteLike so much will, there are also so many pills. Zavery's, Gore's, Joshi's the ayurveda stuff, which tells me that Gods dont give you a cross road, but a cycle wheel, full of rims/spokes, and all of it to be taken simultaneously!!!
ReplyDeleteStill no problem, one can possibly get around to accepting it, but then He adds"just do it" without expectation of a result!!!! mantra. As a bhaktha koti, I am supposed to swoon with overwhelming beauty of this profound saranagathy.
If I dont, either I am doomed or one day, some day, since God is ever merciful, He will either give me a rakshasa janma, and liberate me, or make me a bhakhtha koti, to experience the bliss,of Bhakhthi, with accompaniment of daily doses of "setbacks" as a SOP which mandates a constant "testing" in the TQM process to attain "nirvana". Om shantih, shantih, Shantihi.
