On Hindustan Unilever Limited, Risk, Environment and Taittiriya Upanishad

(For Dhruv, the batman – Part VI)

Dhruv beta, now only You and I are left, and know this , if you are still reading and have been reading from the beginning, that we have come to what the Taittiriyam describes as the Vigynanamaya Kosha.
The sheath that explains the “EGO”, “I” , “Ahamkara”, the Lux soap, or any word that you want to use.
By this time you will probably realize that RISK is not physical(Annamaya Kosha), Bodily or Systemic (Pranamaya Kosha), Mental (Manomaya Kosha), Knowledgeable or Knowable ( Gynanamaya Kosha).
It isn’t in Silence (that is non-communicatable) or in Vacuo,(the word vacuum , comes from this Latin word, meaning , “ A total absence”)
RISK IS THE CONSEQUENCE OF LOSING SOMETHING CREATED BY YOUR OWN MIND.
Therefore, when you know that in this world there is nothing to lose , know, that you have arrived at the Vigynanamaya Kosha.
Even if you possess Gynana(Knowledge), you retain the consequence (phala) , therefore a modicum of RISK – the risk of possessing that knowledge.
This is the understanding of the Vigynanamaya Kosha.
Vigynana is not science as is commonly understood, it is the science of understanding.
Understanding comes at the end of knowledge, that is, after knowledge.
Therefore Vedanta is at the end of the Vedas, Veda comes from Vid, to Know.
Vedasya Antah iti Vedantah , we also call it the End of Knowledge.
And the beauty is this Understanding is available to all human beings through the practice of pranayama.
It points to the Limitless, the Eternal, the Brahman.
It affirms that the Limitless, the Eternal, the Brahman, is within you.
It is you.
That (It) thou Art! Tad Tvam Asi! - so say the Upanishad.
Dhruv beta, beyond this you will travel alone in the great solace that you are IT.
The Vedas help you with mere praises.
In case you wonder, due to occasional lapse in the longest pranayama of your life as to “What is the consequence of (losing) such an Understanding?” – The tattiriyam will be there to tell you, of a sheath beyond the Vigynanamaya Kosha, which is not a sheath, but a state. A state where One realizes that One is No Different From One’s Environment. Such a State is called “SATCHITANANDAM”. Technically, this is called the Anandamaya Kosha.
Not a Kosha, but a stiththi, state, where there is no plastic, No LUX, no RISK, no knowledge, no sound, no Nothing, not even an environment!
Such a state ensures that you cannot but act responsibly toward every other being in the Universe.
The sthula sharir, the sukshma sharir and the chit (that which evolved from being a manas to a buddhi to a chit) conjoin Reality or Sat in a state of Bliss or Ananda – Sat Chit Anandam.
Attainment of such a state, is the responsibility of every human being to experience and which he/she/it does experience. It is possible to do so when one is alive.
That is your real Nature , that is You , Tad Tvam Asi- so say the Upanishad.
The taittiriyam also contains descriptions of various activities that need to be performed called Sandhyavandanam, Samitadanam and other nitya karmas, but remember that these will constitute “Bhakti” only after the understanding mentioned above as characteristic of the Vigynanamaya Kosha. Otherwise they are mere Nitya Karma! Daily obligations, In as much as you brush your teeth, and comb your hair.

God Bless us All!

  1. Naresh, I have just mailed to all members, a msg before seeing this piece. This piece only re inforces what I have said in the mail.

    1. You have taken the "adhyaathma" mantle of the blog truly and effectively.

    2. Like the famous saying in a libel more the truth, more the libel, the more difficult is the piece, the more profound is the "adhyathma" part. your 6 part series is like an aranyaka......( Jungle forest, where one is easily lost)

    3. Even for adults this is a stern stuff, but surprise, Dhruv is so good, that he may come with startling rejoinders. We will wait and see.

    4. I need time to make a comment.

    Love

    Vichu
